Nationals Add Adrian Sampson and Parker Dunshee to Triple-A Roster
The Nationals have signed right-handers Adrian Sampson and Parker Dunshee to minor league deals, assigning both pitchers to Triple-A Rochester. Sampson, the more experienced of the two, has pitched in parts of five major league seasons, tallying 292 2/3 innings with a 4.43 ERA in a swingman role. Despite a modest strikeout rate, his ability to limit walks makes him a reliable depth option.
Sampson spent last season in the Rangers’ Triple-A rotation but was never called up, eventually hitting free agency. With Washington light on rotation depth, he joins a Rochester staff that includes Shinnosuke Ogasawara and prospect Andry Lara. Meanwhile, Joan Adon and Konnor Pilkington, who have big-league experience, are currently working in relief roles. The Nationals hope Sampson’s experience will provide stability as they navigate their pitching options.
