Orioles Designate Matt Bowman, Call Up Colin Selby
The Orioles have designated right-hander Matt Bowman for assignment, opening a spot on their 40-man roster to recall Colin Selby from Triple-A Norfolk. Selby will provide Baltimore with a fresh arm for Thursday’s series finale against the Twins, giving the team a much-needed bullpen reinforcement.
Bowman, 33, had been a reliable option for Baltimore earlier in the season, posting a 1.98 ERA through his first 12 appearances. However, recent struggles—allowing seven runs over his past four outings—led the Orioles to move on. Bowman had initially joined Baltimore in 2023 after opting out of a minor league deal with Minnesota and worked his way onto the big-league roster late in spring training. While his strikeout rate sits at a modest 15.2%, his impressive 3.8% walk rate has been a bright spot. With Baltimore continuing to tweak its pitching depth, Bowman now faces uncertainty while awaiting his next opportunity.
