Fernando Tatis Jr. Back in Lineup After Forearm Injury

Fernando Tatis Jr. wasted no time returning to action, suiting up for the Padres on Saturday against the Pirates just a day after taking a fastball to the forearm. The star outfielder exited Friday’s game in the third inning after being hit by a 93 mph sinker from Pittsburgh’s Mitch Keller. However, X-rays came back negative, and Padres manager Mike Shildt confirmed that while Tatis is dealing with some soreness, the swelling has subsided enough for him to play. The slugger, who boasts a .345 batting average with eight home runs and 25 RBIs this season, was penciled in as the leadoff hitter against Bailey Falter.

The Padres also made a couple of roster moves ahead of Saturday’s game, calling up catcher Luis Campasano from Triple-A El Paso while optioning utility player Connor Joe to the minors to give him more consistent at-bats. With Tatis back in action and San Diego tweaking its lineup, the team looks to maintain its offensive rhythm as the season progresses.
