Angels Outright Touki Toussaint Amid Bullpen Struggles

The Angels have officially outrighted right-hander Touki Toussaint to Triple-A Salt Lake after he cleared waivers. The move follows his designation for assignment the previous day when the club called up Héctor Neris and Connor Brogdon. Though Toussaint has the option to reject the assignment and become a free agent, the team has not indicated whether he plans to do so. His latest stint in the majors was brief, as he pitched two innings on Sunday, allowing two runs while recording three strikeouts and a walk.

A former first-round pick by Arizona, Toussaint has spent parts of eight seasons in the big leagues, posting a 5.42 ERA over 282 1/3 innings. His struggles with control—evident in his career 14% walk rate—have limited his effectiveness. Meanwhile, the Angels’ bullpen continues to rank among the worst in the league, with a 6.95 ERA entering Wednesday’s games and no reliever sporting an ERA below 4.00. As they search for stability, Toussaint will remain an option in Triple-A should the team need additional pitching depth.
