Padres Release Right-Hander Andrew Bellatti

The Padres have released right-handed pitcher Andrew Bellatti, who had been competing with their Triple-A affiliate in El Paso. Bellatti, a former Phillies reliever, signed a minor league deal with San Diego late in spring training but struggled in his brief stint, posting an 11.57 ERA over just 4 2/3 innings. Across those appearances, he allowed six runs on 10 hits and five walks, leading to his release.

Bellatti’s recent performance follows a difficult 2024 season spent entirely at the Triple-A level with Philadelphia, where he recorded a 5.48 ERA and an unusually high walk rate. However, just two years prior, he had a breakout season with the Phillies in 2022, delivering a strong 3.31 ERA and striking out nearly 34% of batters faced. Injuries and inconsistency have hampered him since, and now he’ll seek another opportunity to revive his career elsewhere.
