Dodgers Set to Call Up Hyeseong Kim

The Dodgers are recalling infielder Hyeseong Kim, who is poised to make his major league debut. Kim, already on the 40-man roster, will need a corresponding move to be placed on the active roster. The 26-year-old was a standout free agent this past winter after compiling a .304/.364/.403 slash line over eight seasons in the KBO while playing multiple infield positions, primarily in the middle infield. Though not known for power, Kim’s skill set as a contact-driven utility player made him an intriguing signing.

Despite some initial uncertainty about his fit, the Dodgers secured Kim with a three-year, $12.5 million deal. The team originally had a deep middle infield rotation featuring Mookie Betts, Gavin Lux, Tommy Edman, and Miguel Rojas, but Lux’s trade to the Reds opened a clearer path for Kim. After being optioned to the minors in March, he now has an opportunity to carve out playing time, with Betts and Edman handling most of the workload while Rojas and Enrique Hernández provide additional depth.
