Corbin Burnes to Miss Next Start Due to Shoulder Inflammation
Diamondbacks right-hander Corbin Burnes will miss his next start as he deals with right shoulder inflammation, The Arizona Republic’s Nick Piecoro reports. While it remains uncertain whether he will require an injured list stint, manager Torey Lovullo expressed optimism that Burnes could return after sitting out just one outing. Lovullo noted that Burnes has felt shoulder fatigue over his past few starts, prompting an MRI that revealed mild inflammation.
Burnes’ absence comes as the Diamondbacks fight to stay competitive in the NL West, where they have fallen to fourth place despite a solid 17-15 record. With the division-leading Dodgers pulling ahead and teams like the Padres, Giants, Phillies, and Reds jockeying for wild-card spots, Arizona will need to find ways to maintain their momentum while waiting for their ace’s return.
