José Nicolás Tábata, born on August 12, 1988, in El Tigre, Venezuela, is a former professional baseball outfielder who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) for the Pittsburgh Pirates from 2010 to 2015. Tábata began his career as an international signee with the New York Yankees in 2005, quickly rising through the minor league ranks. By 2008, he was ranked as the Yankees' No. 2 prospect before being traded to the Pirates.

Known for his speed and contact hitting, Tábata was a consistent presence in the Pirates' lineup during his early years. In 2011, he signed a six-year contract extension with the Pirates, reflecting the team's confidence in his potential.

Over his MLB career, Tábata appeared in 509 games, recording a .275 batting average, 438 hits, 17 home runs, 126 RBIs, and 47 stolen bases. Despite facing challenges later in his career, Tábata's contributions to the Pirates and his journey from Venezuela to the majors remain noteworthy.
