Jimmy Wacker: A Brief MLB Appearance

Charles James "Jimmy" Wacker, born on December 8, 1883, in Jeffersonville, Indiana, was a left-handed pitcher who had a very short stint in Major League Baseball (MLB). Wacker made his MLB debut on April 28, 1909, with the Pittsburgh Pirates. Despite his promising talent, his major league career consisted of just one game, where he pitched two innings, allowing two unearned runs without recording a strikeout.

Before his brief MLB appearance, Wacker had an impressive minor league career, including a standout season with the Evansville River Rats in 1908, where he posted a 27–8 record and helped lead the team to the Central League pennant. His performance earned him the nickname "Demon Jimmy" and a reputation as a dominant pitcher in the minors.

After his MLB debut, Wacker returned to the minor leagues, continuing to play for teams like the Milwaukee Brewers (minor league) and the Dayton Veterans. He passed away on August 7, 1948, in Evansville, Indiana, leaving behind a legacy as a talented pitcher whose potential was only briefly showcased at the major league level.
