Duane Frederick "Duke" Maas, born on January 31, 1929, in Utica, Michigan, was a right-handed pitcher who played in Major League Baseball (MLB) from 1955 to 1961. Maas began his professional career with the Detroit Tigers and later played for the Kansas City Athletics and New York Yankees. Known for his resilience and versatility, Maas was a key contributor to the Yankees' 1958 World Series championship team.
A notable moment in Maas's career came during the 1958 World Series, where he pitched in relief during Game 2 against the Milwaukee Braves. Although the game was challenging, Maas's efforts helped solidify his role as a reliable pitcher for the Yankees.
